Sylvia Grape on Guitar
December 9, 2021|6:00 pm–8:00 pm
Sylvia Grape is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based out of LA, California. Sylvia has been performing live since 2013, her music reaching audiences all along the West Coast from weddings and concert halls to festivals and farms alike. While studying psychology at UCSC, Sylvia released a demo album titled “I Am but a Stranger Here” in 2018. Following graduation in 2019, she embarked on a multi-state tour along the Pacific Northwest with The Reverend Stephan Sams.
Although her music has been described as having a “traditional folk vibe,” Sylvia has been pushing the boundaries of what folk music is, and does, blending it with electronic music and rock. Her songs traverse the dark and light, capturing a journey through the soul and our modern land and cityspaces. While she has a background in jazz, piano, and songwriting, guitar is her main instrument, and she weaves together her intricate guitar playing with looped rhythms and vocals for a contemporary folk rock sound.
Sylvia’s wide repertoire and songwriting skills have made her a top pick for live events in 2021, going so far as to co-write a couple’s engagement song. Sylvia is preparing for a new music release this year, and is joined by Nate Brown on percussion, Isaac Phillips on guitar, and Ilana Blumberg on violin.
