Over a decade ago, Paul started a coffee shop in Koreatown, one of the first to bring the specialty coffee scene into the area. During this time he fell in love with coffee culture, competing in barista competitions, even learning to roast coffee himself. Although Paul later sold his business to start a family, the coffee shop is still there, and is now called Alchemist Coffee Project.
Paul’s children are now in school, and he’s ready to get back in the small business game, but this time, he’s ready for a new challenge: boba.
Circle Tea Bar is inspired by Paul’s previous experiences as a barista and coffee roaster. Each cup of tea is brewed fresh with an espresso machine, using 3 to 4 times more tea than typically used, and extracted quickly in order to reduce tannin, a bitter chemical, and maximize flavor instead. The boba is always cooked to perfection, with a couple of hints from chefs that he picked up along the way.
But most importantly, just like his previous shop, Circle Tea Bar believes that the difference from the competition is in the details, the kind that a chain store could never replicate. It’ll start from caring leadership, lead to better drinks, and end at unmatched consistency.
